A way to get things off my chest.

Saw this on a website today. Thought it was a very, very astute quote.

A combat instructor once said to me: “From now on, when dealing with crazy/possibly violent people, you will lose every argument. You are always wrong. You are sorry for impinging on their day. You will apologize and apologize again. You will back the f**k down. You will put your tail between your legs. You will let them talk about your ladyfriend. You will let them call your mother and your dad names. You have no ego. ”

“You do all this because if you are the one to start a fight, by default that fight now has a gun in it. And if you start losing, you’re going to pull it and kill him. And even if you don’t go to jail because you could convince the jury that it was self-defense, you’re going to have to live with the fact that you could have saved someone’s life and yet you let your ego kill someone.”

Last night Barack Obama became President-Elect. My congratulations go out to the Democratic party in their victory.

Four years ago, when George W. Bush won a second term, I heard the Liberals of this country bad mouth, name call and denounce not only Bush, but the American people as well for being ‘stupid’ or ‘ignorant.’ It was rather sad to listen to this people threaten to leave the country. It made me realize how selfish and arrogant some people can be. In this country we are afforded the greatest liberty to ever exist on this planet and yet they would pack it all in because things didn’t go their way.

This is never something you will hear me do. Obama will become Commander in Chief. That is an office that should be afforded the utmost respect. No one who gains that office could be stupid or ignorant or any other pejorative the Liberals used to describe Bush.

I will not agree with many of Obama’s policies. I will argue against them in open and intelligent debate. And then when a decision is made, I will do everything in my power to support Obama in his decision. In 4 more years we are all allowed to vote again. Time will tell.

As we head into those next four years, it will be be interesting times, indeed. I am not the least bit concerned about the economy. If one looks back over 200 years of history, you’ll find that nearly every 20 years a recession was entered by our market. It has always rebounded. No, my major concerns are what will happen to the Iraqi people when we move out and Iran claims victory. What will happen to Israel when our admission of defeat prompts a declaration of war by radical Muslim countries. What will become of jobs for the lower class when Obama sets out to ‘fix’ the middle class. Again, time will tell.

My head is held high. This is the greatest country on the planet. It may not be perfect, it may not be immune (and should not be) to criticism but I am still proud to be a part of this country and what it stands for:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Believe it or not, that was written from memory.
